Stoupa
Stoupa is lucky to be situated on two pretty bays with sandy beaches with the 2407m high Taygetos Mountains in the distance behind (about 10km as the crow flies). It is also about 100km from Kap Tainaron, the southernmost point of continental Europe. You will find more pictures from Stoupa and its surroundings in our picture gallery and you can read a little about its history...
Thanks to the mediterranean sea the climate and the temperatures also during winter are mostly quite comfortable.
You can reach Stoupa by plane direct to Kalamata during the tourist season, otherwise by plane to Athens with connections to Kalamata or from Athens by regular bus or train to Kalamata, then on to Stoupa by taxi or bus. There is also a daily bus from Athens to Stoupa. Another option is a car ferry from Italy to Patras and then on to Stoupa (250km).
Accommodations are simple to luxurious and in most cases set up for self-catering.
In Stoupa and the surrounding villages, there are supermarkets, butchers, bakeries, laundramats, pharmacists, etc as well as a doctor. There is a wide range of tavernas to choose from and the local private travel office Stephan Bartholomä (formerly "Zorbas") is always ready with advice and service. Cars, mopeds and bicycles can be rented locally.
Many interesting daytrips and excursions are possible as well as short and long hikes (some guided). During the summer season there is a beach bus connecting the beaches of the closer area.
We prepared some book tips regarding the area.

Note: There is no local bank. However, currency and traveller cheques can be cashed with us. There are two - most of the time working - ATM's
