Faraggi ('The Gorge') in Exochori
Description:
On a really majestic spot the small hotel Faraggi (= ravine) in the village Exochori was built directly at the edge of the Viros ravine. The village is located high up in the mountains, about 10 kilometers far from the sea or Kardamili. Stoupa and sandy beaches are only insignificantly further.
We recommend this hotel as ideal starting point for smaller and larger walks or mountain tours, it is suitable for calm, authentic holidays in the Greek mountain village - really faraway from (mass) tourism. Friends of nature can enjoy the still undisturbed and very special flora and fauna of the Taigetos mountains and the owners have many interesting things to tell about the mountains and the life in the village - they are also hapy to help when planning trips (in English).
All six rooms of the hotel are furnished for 2-4 persons: Wide single beds, a foldable couch, the bath with shower, a refrigerator, television and the air conditioning system which will mainly be used in winter for heating... When the days are shorter one can relax in the evenings in the comfortable public area with open fire-place and bar, otherwise the community life takes place on the hotel's own restaurant terrace and/or on the roof terrace with open-air bar.
During the day one enjoys a breathtaking view of Viros ravine both from the terraces and from the balconies of the rooms up to the highest mountain of the Taygetos: the Profitis Elias (2407m).
The breakfast depending upon season consists of
freshly baked bread, homemade jam, eggs from the neighbour, village cheese, fruits and/or vegetable from the garden and mountain tea should really be ordered!
The highlight of the evening is the really good, Greek meal with the mountain skyline in the moonlight or a drink at the bar under the starlit skies.
